Our History

Granite State Cabinetry was established in 1989. Frank and Mariette Morris acquired the business in 1996. Prior, Frank was a home builder in Bedford, NH and was also a builder customer. He would send his clients to the showroom to pick out cabinetry for their new home. Kitchens were simple 25 years ago. Crown molding and tilt trays were the options, and customers got to select from four colors of knobs for their hardware. Frank and Mariette were both excited to begin a new chapter in their lives and began working hard to create the foundation on what GSC is built upon today. Frank instilled his lifelong values into the business, creating a positive culture and an embracing family environment that still exists today.

Shortly after taking over, Frank brought in his family. Frank Jr. began in the warehouse delivering kitchens. Working in the showroom through college, he would be found learning the sales and design side of the business. After graduating, Frank Jr. returned to the business as a full-time sales person and kitchen designer.  Pete also began working for the business after graduating and learning the craftsmanship of cabinetry installation. Pete worked as a cabinet installer for GSC for many years.

Today Frank and Pete run the daily operations of the business. Frank’s daughters also share the passion, MaryEllen coordinates customer service, scheduling, and product orders. Katherine provides her expertise to GSC by developing the company’s custom computer software. Along with team of dedicated salespeople, amazing designers, and talented craftsman, GSC is the true example of a locally owned family run business.

From 1996-2009, GSC sold kitchens to builders and remodelers. GSC designed and installed cabinets, countertops, and decorative hardware. In 2006, GSC began working on offering simple remodeling services to homeowners. The timing was perfect. During the crash of 2009, the builder and remodeler business completely stopped. Offering simple remodeling services is what allowed GSC to sell cabinetry during a tough economic period. This was a major turning point in the operation of GSC. Today GSC offers full design-build services and sells all the products that customers are purchasing in one amazing showroom location.

Throughout the past 25 years, the kitchen industry has changed by leaps and bounds. Design trends are constantly changing. Technology in the kitchen is evolving quickly. The number of options, accessories, and products is overwhelming. Getting wrapped up in all of this can seem daunting to even the most seasoned kitchen designer. What remains the same is the passion, excitement, values, and culture set down 25 years ago. The foundation created will certainly be strong enough to keep GSC going for another 25 years and beyond
